ABOUT
PROJECT ACE
MISSION.
“Project ACE” aims to break generational cycles in the foster care system by sharing stories from the system- thereby raising awareness about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and their lifelong health impacts.
VISION.
Our goal is to break the stigma surrounding foster care and advocate for those who need additional support.
Our ongoing collaborations with like-minded organizations to promote education, provide resources, and connect those who need additional support will create a ripple effect of positive change in the lives affected by foster care.
CORE VALUES.
Innovation | Education | Advocacy | Empathy | Collaborators
OUR STORY.
I'm Grace, the Founder of Project ACE. I entered the Indiana Foster Care system at birth due to my biological mother’s mental health challenges. While science suggests that trauma can be stored from an early age, I believe the body and mind remembers love received at such an early age too.
Support, unconditional love, and desire to connect can make all the difference in a child's life.
A main tenant of Project ACE is that even small acts of kindness can profoundly impact a child's life in the long term- just like trauma can. After being removed from my first foster placement, and living with my biological mother until age seven, I faced numerous dangerous, traumatic situations due to a lack of oversight on her care of me. These all left a lasting impact on me as well- but the positive influences made me who I am today.
My story didn't lead to aging out of foster care. I was fortunate to eventually be adopted by my grandparents, who provided a nurturing, STABLE, and encouraging environment- something too many children of the system do not get the luxury of having.
Through my journey and years of (much needed) therapy, I learned about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and was introduced to their long-term effects on health and well-being. Learning about ACE's reshaped my understanding of my own challenges and those faced by countless people aged out of the system.
Project ACE was inspired by a desire to combine my passion for film and advocacy, providing support and resources to those who feel unseen. To educate the many others who don't know they are living with ACE's, or what the effects of ACE's even are. To help those who carry the burden of things they had no control over. To give back and improve the shocking mental health, education, and quality of life statistics found in foster care.
Together, we aim to break the negative generational cycles too often found in the foster care system.
Thank you for being here.
